Remember those gals from Stoneybrook?
Not only were these books, but they had VHS tapes with different episodes you could watch. I remember I had 3 that I would watch over and over again. And my friend Ruth had a few and we LOVED to watch them.
Mary-Anne was my favorite (I think) because she was always polite and quiet. Kristy got on my nerves...she was so bossy. And if she was a real person, I'm pretty sure she would be a lezzy PE Coach somewhere in the midwest. Or...she was so dedicated to the BSC (that's Baby-Sitters Club for short...duh!), she might be running some big ass Club out of her home.
Of course she had to be all kinds of fug! Way to represent, Mal!
Anywho...I can remember in elementary school we had a day where we dressed up as our favorite book character. Now, Mallory was by no means my "favorite", but she was a redhead. I can remember my mom curling my hair in hot rollers, putting on fake glasses, and wearing a purple sweater with floral leggings to match.
And the MOVIE...how can you forget the movie?! I watched this a couple days ago on TV and was instantly hooked.
Oh the memories...my friends and I also tried to start our own Baby-Sitters Club. It never got off the ground, but we pretended we could be some bad ass babysitters. AND I had the Stacy doll that came complete with her own kid to babysit.
Wait?! Was I obsessed?!

Yes, you were obsessed. I never watched or read the books, but I remember them vividly.
It's so fun reliving the past!
Babysitters Club was the shiz.
This is too cute!! I totally remember trying to start a BSC with my friends also, but there were never kids around, or we wouldnt get paid. lame. They should do a 20 years later to show where each of the girls are, as they just did with Sweet Valley (although, SV is lame, so why ruin a good memory with BSC).
Happy Friday!

I definitely read every single BSC book...many of them more than once! I honestly don't remember who my favorite was, though. I mean Dawn and Stacy were blondes but I wasn't a hippy and I didn't like math so... :D
I haven't thought about this in sooooo long! Have a great day honey! Kori xoxo
Oh my goodness.. I forgot all about this!! I was obsessed with them too!!
I totally need to track down this movie for my daughter. She's love it!!
I had all the books and the special shelf to hold them. I remember sending away for it through the book order from school and got a special unicorn eraser or something. i looved that movie too!
I actually, literally gasped when I scrolled down and saw those words in blocks!
I read ALL of these books.. including a couple "little sister" titles.
Never saw the show, but i was obsessed with the move. I mean Alex Mac was in it.. don't you remember Alex MAC??!?! Hello Nickelodeon.

LOVE this little flashback! My friends and I tried to start a babysitting club too:-) AND of course, my favorite was Claudia. Artsy/quirky/addicted to candy/Asian...just like me:-) Wow. I remember toooo much! xoxo
I read every one of these books. The little sister even had some mysteries! My friends and I will still watch the BSC movie-- it's unbelievably awesome with a few margaritas! :)
hahahaha OMG laughing out loud so much. I DO remember the BSC books, fondly! I read every single one. And loved your comment about the token ginger, OMG, seriously laugh out loud :):) Thanks for taking me back!
OMGGG This is such a great flashback! I loveeeedddd The Babysitter's Club! I read the books over and over!! And the movie! HAHA I watched that tons! Too funny!! Thanks for this great flashback! :)
I totes LOVED BSC! I read every single book! Claudia was always my fave - I think it's because I secretly wished I was artsy!
I used to absolutely LOVE the Babysitters Club!! I think I read every single one of those books!!
I was obsessed with the movie! I watched on repeat for a summer. I was mildy obsessed with the tv show as well. I always made my mom order a bunch of the BSC books from those Scholastic Books order forms you would get at school but I never read them. I did read the Little Sister's series though. I still have one special BSC book which was a bunch Christmas cards the girls had sent to each other.
Do you have this on DVD? I wanna watch it!
say hello to your friends! haha OMG - i LOVED the babysitters club series. we even had the board game and trivia book - it was intense. my favorite was claudia. i even tried hiding candy in my bedroom b/c i wanted to be like her - my mom both knew and didn't care - total buzzkill! Awesome post - i'm seriously going to amazon.com this movie now!
I basically just died when I saw this. I'm not even kidding. I used to be OBSESSED!!!!!! SOOO BAD! I used to own the VHS tapes, BUT, my parents didnt buy them all, so I would rent the others from the library. And then I would try to intentionally NOT return them (so I could keep them...I guess most people call that stealing AGH), and my parents would find them and make me grounded! I had ALL the books and would hit up Walden Books at the mall when a new one came out. Only problem is I would read it within a day. My favorite was Stacy because she was into fashion and a big city girl! When my sister's and I would pick characters, I would try to always be Stacy, but my sisters said I should be Kristy because I was bossy! LOL...but the worst was I would force my sister to be Mallory because her name is MALLORY LOL!!! That is pure torture.
I definitely prefered the VHS episodes to the movie, but of course I owned and watched both. I also was totally into Sweet Valley Twins (never got as into High, only the TV show).
LOVED THIS! Brought back so many good memories (and I just rambled on and on!!!!) Hope you had a nice weekend!
I wanted to be a member of BSC too, the movies made my life!!!
totally obsessed with the BSC>

greatttt post! I just LOL reading this. I was obsessed with the books and then thought my life had been made when the vhs tapes came out. My favorite episode was the haunted one when they were in some attic... that's about all I remember, but it was so good and so scary back then, haha
