Football!

Like the clever title huh?

Well, football season is upon us. It's been upon us for a while but i'm a big college football fan and get so excited when it rolls around.

As you may (or may not) know, I graduated from the University of South Carolina. It's the only place you can say "Go Big Cocks!" and not get slapped or given a dirty look.

This past weekend my mom and I ventured the 2 hour drive to Columbia, SC as we do for every home game to see the Gamecocks play.

And these are the shenanigans we got into...no words...just pictures (aka...the way I like it).

I'll be doing the same thing this weekend...plus more of my favorite people and probably MORE shenans! Pictures to follow...

For the love of pumpkin...

Pumpkin is one of those things either you love it or you hate it. I happen to LOVE pumpkin. Anything with pumpkin in it, on it, smell like it...whatever...I WANT it.

This Saturday a bunch of my college friends and few significant others are all meeting up at the South Carolina vs Auburn game in Columbia to have a "reunion" of sorts...I offered to bring a dessert and I wanted to do something with pumpkin. I mean..."it's fall y'all." (Uh...did you stop reading after that annoying phrase?)

Anywho...I've been perusing the interweb and can't seem to find a pumpkin dessert recipe to my liking. I want something quick, easy, and preferably in the form of a cookie or brownie type substance.

Can you help? Know any good web sites with easy pumpkin recipes or do you have one of your own? Send it my way! I love baking...even if I'm not very good at it.

Roommates of the Past

This time next week, I'll be moving into a new apartment...ALONE. I could not be more excited. Not really excited about having no one to split bills with, but the fact that I can walk around naked if I so choose.

But...this will be the first time in 10 years that I've ever lived alone.

Here is my college roommate, Crystal.

We lived together all 4 years of college. She wasn't my first initial roommate, but after the first month of school we got along so well that my roommate and she switched rooms.

My first dorm...aw, sweet memories.

I can remember the fraternities doing their stepping routines in masks in the women's quad in the middle of the night, drunk girls and boys walking back from the bars through our quad, watching BET ComicView or Golden Girls to help us fall asleep, or the fact that it was blazing hot in our room, that during the entire winter we left our window open.

Here is where I lived sophomore year...

I had classes right next door, so I would usually wake up and head straight to class in my pj's. Why I can't do that now is absurd to me.

This was also the year of the bunk beds. The bunk bed I fell off of one morning trying to let myself down to shower. The same room where I came home drunk from a house party with muddy boots and my roommate thought I had shit myself and the walls. The same room where there were panty hose tied to my roommates bunk post...she was kinky.

Then we decided to buck up the next two years of school and add 2 more people to the mix.

Those memories are hazy, but I do remember the summer of my senior year, my roommate (pictured above) decided to sublease her room out to two Vietnamese girls for the first summer semester. These two girls stayed locked up in a room with one bed. They may have even showered together. I can't remember what they looked like b/c they were in that room so much. I don't think they were lesbians, but again, I don't know much about them.

Then I decided to graduate college...who ever said graduating from college was a good idea was a dummy and never actually did it?

This is where I lived my last year in my college town working two dumb part-time jobs and partying every night.

I loved my little townhouse (shared with a roommie). I got a pussy cat and named her Graycee. She now lives with my parents. I also sobbed for like a week straight when I moved. Because then I finally realized I was leaving the college experience and all my friends. I got over it.

Then there was a period of about a year where I had to live with my parents because I couldn't find a full-time "big girl job" to save my life.

Until 2007, I found a job in Greenville, SC and moved in with my co-workers daughter. And that's where I've been ever since.

She's been the best roommate ever. She's clean, quiet, fun, sweet, and most of all clean.

But now she's moving on to bigger things...like marriage. And tomorrow she'll be going to the chapel.

I couldn't be more happy for her and her fiance. But I also can't be more excited of the nude walks I'll take around my apartment.

Follow Her!

My beautiful IRL (in real life) bestie, Sandi (pictured below)...

is 2 followers away from reaching 100. Word on the blog street is that once she reaches that goal she'll be hosting a fabulous give-away. So my recommendation is you follow her blog so you can have a chance to win whatever she gives away.
Sandi owns an adorable designer boutique in Greenwood, SC. And the same blog street rumor is that she might give away a gift card to her store, Sugar.
Have no fear, ladies...this store has it's own site on the world wide web and she ships to anywhere in the US.
So check out the site...pick out what you like...follow her blog...and then enter her giveway so you can WIN that gift card (or other prize she may have) and get to shopping.

You can also LIKE Sugar on Facebook to keep up to date with the latest styles that are available in store and online, which are updated almost daily.

*I was not coaxed or asked to do this...just a BFF looking out for her BFF*

Did I mention this beauty is expecting her first child, Cade, in February?

Recent Study: Single People are Cooler

My single friend found this article. I wanted to share with all you other single people out there.

Now don't get me wrong...I LOVE my married / couple friends, but you can't deny science.

1. Single people go out and do stuff. People in couples lie around and watch complete seasons of Dexter streaming on Netflix. Single people do this too, but they do it after they go out and do stuff. For people in couples, that is doing stuff.

2. Single people have creative diets. Who’s going to teach you how to make something edible with a box of rice noodles, a packet of hot chocolate, and a hunk of Colby cheese? A single person. Who’s going to teach you how to make a balanced meal that looks like a prop from a magazine advertisement for stainless steel countertop? A person in a couple.

*I do not cook, but my single gal Vivian does. She cooks like she's Giada or Paula.*

3. Single people go on first dates. These either go well, in which case you can watch the single person pretend they don’t want to share the dirty details and squirm when you comment on potential red flags; or poorly, in which case you get a whole brunch’s worth of stories to enjoy. If someone says she and her live-in boyfriend had a date night on Friday, who gives a damn where they went? Their moms, maybe.

4. Single people are less likely to have kids. And people who have kids tend to have 900% more to tell you about their kids than you really want to hear, especially if the parents are in a couple. Single parenting is tough, but it sure makes for more entertaining stories.

*I love being an "Auntie" to all my little kiddos...but, I'm glad when I can give them back too.*

5. Single people are less likely to have houses. And people who have houses tend to have 9,000% more to tell you about their houses than you really want to hear.

6. Single people are more likely to try to dress sexy. If the single person is in fact sexy, then score! That sexy person is dressing sexy. If the person is not sexy—well, again, we’re back to the pure entertainment factor.

7. Single people are better on Twitter. And Facebook, and Tumblr, and so on. When you’re in a couple, well, lucky you—the person you want to share all your most intimate thoughts with is right there next to you! When you’re single, you spill your most intimate thoughts across the Internet like little drones, bouncing around looking for a soulmate who will truly appreciate them and subsequently DM you.

8. Single people go completely off the rails on major holidays. Because on New Year’s when you’re single, what do you do? It’s a lot more likely to involve drinking vodka, ingesting a controlled substance, and waking up next to an awkwardly adoring on-again off-again fuck buddy than what someone in a couple is apt to get up to.

9. Single people have less money. When you’re single you’re paying for your own place—or you’re sharing a place, which makes for endless aggravation and accordingly lots of good stories. Your financial decisions are made by a committee of one, so you make more ill-advised decisions. And now you’re eating whatever the hell is on sale, and going on vacation at some janky local campground instead of at an all-inclusive Caribbean resort, and driving a car that breaks down in the middle of major intersections. Sucks to be you, except for the fact that your personal life is likely to be the subject of horrified fascination rather than bored indifference.

10. Single people don’t have their shit figured out. In general, to be in a couple there’s some baseline requirement that you’re stable, mature, and self-possessed. Singlehood has no such requirement. If you’re single, you can be a totally confused, capricious, alternately agonized and ecstatic mess of a human being. Your friends in couples are just going to make a bowl of popcorn, curl up on the couch, open your Twitter feed, and watch.

- Jay Gabler does know a handful of people who manage to be interesting despite being happily coupled, and if you’re actually reading this, there’s an above-average chance that you’re one of them. But probably you’re not.
