I took a legit sick day from work today. What a perfect day to do so! Unfortunately, I do not have internet at my apartment currently so the post is a little late.
The inspiration for this post...this morning I was watching videos on VH1. They play some lame-o videos, but one caught my attention. It was by that long lost boy troupe, Hanson. After Jordan Knight and before Justin Timberlake I had the BIGGEST crush on Taylor Hanson (the keyboard player/lead singer). I was OB-SESSED with Hanson. The first concert I ever went to was a free outdoor concert in uptown Charlotte, NC to see Hanson. My mom took me and 3 of my friends when we were 14 in 1997. I would collect teen mags and tear out all their pictures and put them in a notebook. I would also collect pictures from the internet (we first got dial up in 1997, so you can imagine the time it took to download and print these photos) and put them in said notebook. It was insane. I had concert VHS tapes they that released or VHS recordings from TV...remember the days before Tivo and DVR?! I also had every CD they ever came out with. Singles, Albums, Christmas CD's, special unreleased underground shizz. I think this obsession lasted for maybe a good year and then I saw Justin Timberlake and I was like "Hanson, who?"
I remember praying and desperately wanting to be able to meet Taylor Hanson. That was all I ever wanted. Now I could probably have that dream come true if I wanted. I think they play at like state fairs and amusements parks. But all three are married with like 18 kids a piece so they aren't even touching my radar anymore.
But in the season of rememberance...I give you MMMBop! :)
