I'm so blessed to have him in my life and so excited that he soon will be so much closer. After 16 years, he will move back to my hometown of Due West, SC (where my mother still resides...45min drive from Greenville). It's going to be so much easier visiting both my parents in the same day not to the mention the same town.
Despite the fact that my parents divorced when I was 11 years old, I've always remained extremely close with both my parents. I owe a lot of my favorite childhood memories to my father. My dad and I have a special relationship. When I was growing up into a teenager he was living out of state in Ohio, but he would visit twice a month.
We had a scare back in winter of 2005 when he had a sudden stroke. He was in the hospital for several months recovering, but in the past 5 years he's still the same man I've always known. His walking may be a little wobbly now, but he's still the same man I've loved my whole life.
We have our special traditions...Atlanta Christmas shopping trip every December and "Bucket List" trips in the Spring. I will always, always be his little girl.
Happy Birthday, Daddy! I love you!
