i'm sure most of you saw when I posted this on instagram.
my mom sent me the email below yesterday.
sidenote: all of the emails I get from my mom have the subject: "FYI"
In no way am I tooting my own horn...but 1. the fact that my grandfather was bragging on me to a nurse the week he passed away tugged at my heart 2. my grandma taught me to always say thank you with a card and 3. it shows a simple "thank you" goes so far and means so much.
I don't think people say "thank you" enough. I certainly don't give gifts expecting a thank you, but when I do get an email, text, phone call, or card in return it means so much.
I do my best to send thank you notes for every gift I receive...even to my parents. Of course everyone knows you're thankful, but to see it written out and to know that you took the time to send out a note (even if it's a text or email) is so appreciated.
I'm also one to keep every single card I receive. I save them so I can read them when I need an instant pick-me-up.
What if someone you know does this too? Maybe they'd like a card from you so they can look back and see those kind words written out.
It's so hard to get wrapped up in life, but I think the above email shows that a simple "thank you" can go a long way.

That's really great to hear. I know you aren't tooting your own horn, but it is nice to know you're the fave grandkid. ;)
Oh my goodness. I just teared up. That is so special, Beth. It's amazing how far genuine thanksgiving will go! Your grandma was wise to teach you! :)
Beth, that is so sweet! Even if he never said you were his favorite, it seems pretty clear now. ;)
Aww too sweet! I love thank you cards!
This is so sweet- I love this!
Amen! I try to be thankful for every little thing, especially my sweet friends who always do the most thoughtful things for me :) (*cough cough*) Again know your granddaddy thought a lot of you. You could just tell. Thinking of you always! Love you
I did not see this on instagram!! I don't know how I missed it. This is seriously the sweetest thing ever. Almost makes me want to cry - such a great reminder that what we do (or don't do) really impacts people, even something as seemingly small as saying thank you. I love this!
Thank you's do go a long way... especially in the south. I followed you most of all because you are from Greenville. I live/ am from the upstate as well! :) I love finding great bloggers that live near me.
thats so lovely and such a sweet thing to here :) xx
Agreed! I sent thank you notes to the nurses and my gyno after having surgery for an ectopic. The gyno took the time to call me to thank me for the thank you note. I still have that message saved in my voice mails ... 6 months later, and I smile every time I hear it. :)
