Spray Tan 101

Just in time for Summer...

So...I am addicted to Mystic Tan. Seriously. Addicted. If I had the money I would go every week, but due to my financial means I can only go when needed. And being a certified ginge, it's a lot easier than baking in a tanning bed for hours on end only to get red and more freckled (gross).

A friend e-mailed me today asking about the spray tan experience, and I was so excited to ease her into the unknown world of being an oompa loompa. Well...it's not that bad. I don't look like Snookie ready for the Jersey Shore by any means. Just jokes.

Here are some tips/tricks that I shared:

WILL IT MAKE ME LOOK BLOTCHY? WILL MY HEELS AND FEET LOOK GROSS?

Use the "barrier cream" in the mystic room to put on your hands and feet. make sure you rub it around your nails and in between your toes really well. don't put it on your elbows or knees...just your feet and hands. i use about 3 pumps of cream for each hand and each foot. this keeps the spray from getting on those parts of your body. they also have these little booties you can wear on your feet, but i wouldn't recommend wearing those...b/c then you'll have a weird oval line on the tops of your feet from where it was "exposed" to the spray.

*Another trick is when you get home just wash off your hands and feet (only) and that should prevent the blotchy-ness, if you aren't confident enough that you used the barrier cream well. I also use the cream around my bikini area...for some reason when you don't it gets "spotty" down there. The spray adheses to the hairs/hair follicles. It doesn't do that to your arm or leg hair so don't worry about that. After the spray is done and you get out, use the paper towel(s) to wipe off the access spray from your hands and feet first and then the rest of your body with the bath towel. if there are paper towels in the room i would set aside a few before you do the spray to use to wipe your hands and feet instead of using the towel.

IF MY EVENT IS ON SATURDAY, WHEN SHOULD I GET MY SPRAY TAN DONE?

I would get my spray tan done 2 days before your event. I would recommend you going at night. After you've gotten home from work, put on some sweats/work out clothes and head on over. some excess spray can get on your clothes, but it will come out in the wash. - the day after your spray you may look a little more brown that usual, but by the second day you'll be perfect. not too tan, but not too pale. so if you're event is on saturday, go thursday night. and don't shower until friday morning.

P.S.-i would also just steer clear of the goggles

loves,
sweetbef
