the face.

my skin has always been terrible. zits all the time.

and suddenly within the last 4 months or so, I simplified my skin care routine and i've noticed a TON of changes.  this was all done by chance and not on purpose.  Now, I RARELY get any zits.  maybe one every 2-3 months and that's usually because I neglected to take my make-up off the night before.

I wanted to let you know what's working for me in case you have acne-prone skin too.  I seriously want to shout it from the roof-tops of how happy I am with my skin now...so consider this blog post my skin care soapbox.

i'm not really sure what category my skin would fall under...it's normal-oily in the warm months and tends to get more dry in the cold ones.  however, the products I use aren't for particular skin types so it should be okay for any face.

here's how it goes:

1. at night I remove my make-up with these oil-free neutrogena face wipes.  I like them better than other face wipes because they are "oil-free"...others i've used always leave that oily residue.  these don't (obvi)

2. in the morning, i wash my face in the shower using purpose facial cleanser.  it's gentle and just gives my face a "fresh start" for the day.

3. every other day, i use st ives fresh skin apricot scrub.  i'm convinced this is the only thing that's preventing my zits and bad skin.  I used it back in april and noticed changes and haven't looked back since.  I had been using neutrogena pink grapefruit foaming scrub on a daily basis back in the winter and it dried my face out.  And when I cut back to once a week, it didn't really seem to help...the zits still came.  so St Ives is where it's at and where it will stay.

4. after my shower, I put on the purpose moisturizer.  i've always used some sort of daily moisturizer, especially one with an SPF.

and now to the best thing i've ever laid my hands on...Garnier BB Cream.

for a year, I had been using Tarte BB Cream as my foundation.  I loved it until I didn't have $$ to pick up a new tube.  so I looked through target and kept sampling BB Creams...Maybelline, Loreal, Almay, all of them.

I tried Loreal BB Cream for a week or two and the color didn't match well and by the end of the day my face was super oily and disgusting.

I did a little research and read good things about Garnier BB Cream so on my last target run I dropped it in my cart.

holy. shizz. it's PERFECT and goes on flawlessly.  it's not oily, it doesn't look like I have on an orange make-up mask and it's a huge tube so I know i'll be able to stretch that $10 before I need to purchase more.  it is also Broad Spectrum SPF 15, so it's perfect to wear to the beach or the pool if you want to get sun protection AND make-up coverage.

not to mention, I got several compliments on how great my skin looked after I started using it.  so that's an obvious perk.  and basicallythe reason i'm declaring my love for this product from the roof-tops today.

okay...now i've stepped off my skin soapbox.  thanks for playing!

Thank you for this post! I'm currently trying to get into a new skincare routine and I am definitely going to try a few of these products out! I live by the make up remover wipes (aren't they the best?!) but I'd never heard of the BB cream or St Ives washes until now... I'll be adding them to my list!
