first thing.

I saw that Christina had done this little ditty...and I wanted to join in.  Now you know more about little ole me than you probably wanted to know.

1. First thing you do when you wake up in the morning.
I check my phone...scroll through emails, overnight texts, instagram, twitter.  Then I turn on the TV and watch The Today Show until I finally decide to get OUT of bed.

2. First thing you reach for when you open the fridge.
butter or pudding.  legit...I barely keep anything in my fridge.  ask my friends.
3. First thing you do when you go to the gym.
I turn around and walk back out because I'm obviously in the wrong place.
4. First thing you do you when you get home from work?
put on my pajama's.  I live an exciting life.

5. First car.
1999 Red Pontiac Sunfire

6. First car accident / traffic violation.
I think the first accident I was in involving my own car was a friend was driving my car and he rear-ended a car.  luckily no damage was done.
7. First thing you wanted to be when you grew up.
teacher. my mom was a teacher, my friends moms were teachers.

8. First choice beverage.
Water.
9. First choice breakfast.
leftover pizza.

10. First choice dessert.
cheesecake.

11. First song that comes to mind…
adele - melt my heart to stone (as it plays in my ear)

12. First major purchase?
my current automobile.

13. First job:
winn-dixie cashier.  the summer before my senior year of high school until I left for college.
the stories I could tell you...

14. First time you flew on a plane.
I believe I was a newborn.  I obviously do not remember, but my parents have told me.  apparently it was on a my dads boss' private plane.   #babyswag

it's about to get deep...

okay, not really.  I don't do "deep."

but if you know me, you know my love for music does run deep.

when I read about justin timberlake's wedding to jessica biel it listed that their first dance song was to Donny Hathaway's A Song For You.

after I wiped the tears from my face and finished off the last bite of raw cookie dough I looked up the song.

I was hoping (for my sake) it would be something horrible.  but it wasn't.  and I am currently obsessed.

i've even listened to several covers of the song and nothing compares to the original version.

so if you're bored...take a listen...but warning...you might not be able to stop.

thankful for things.

so...if you're friends with anyone me on facebook you've probably noticed people being thankful for a lot of sh*t.

i'm obviously thankful for my family (some of them atleast), friends, job, the obligatory stuff.

but i'm thankful for a bunch of other stuff too.

and in the spirit of the upcoming holiday I wanted to share some of the things for which I am thankful.

I am thankful for my boss who brought me clips for my desk at work.

I am thankful for a co-worker who shared his candy with me.

I'm thankful for Sara Blakley for inventing Spanx.

I'm thankful that Channing Tatum looks like this.

I'm thankful some people still have mullets.

I'm thankful I'm broke...because like Biggie said "'Mo Money, 'Mo Problems."

I am thankful for the melodious voice that is Keith Sweat. who does it better than him? NOBODY!

What are YOU thankful for?

dream wedding.

you know how most girls dream about their wedding day?

i'm not one of those girls.

I have no idea what kind of dress I want to wear, or the flowers, or the colors, or location.

the only thing I DO know are the people I want there by my side. and the music.

I know the music I want played.

I figure by the time I get married, everyone will be walking down the isle to non traditional tunes...well, even if that's not the case in 2085, i'll be doing it.

here are my song choices.

wedding party entrance song. (bridesmaids)

wedding party entrance song. (groomsmen)

bride entrance song option 1. (if my groom is younger than me...and with my track record this is HIGHLY possible)

I haven't come up with a 2nd option, but when I do you'll be the first to know.

bride and groom announcement song (after the ceremony is over and we exit).

first dance song.

I know most of you think i'm probably joking...but i'm 89% serious.

back to normal...a baby shower post.

okay...are we back to normal now?

if so, i'd like to proceed with regularly scheduled blogging.

over the weekend, I attended a baby shower for a sweet college pal, Christie.

she and her husband Jay are expecting their first baby, a boy named Jake.  he's due to arrive VERY soon.

the minute we stepped into the home where the shower was being thrown, I was in awe.

the theme for baby Jake's nursery and shower is "nautical."

every room had touches of the sea, boats, anchors, all things beachy.

It made me remember how much I love showers/parties of all kinds.  I love a good theme but this one went beyond I would have ever been able to think of such cute ideas.

But it also got my creative juices flowing and secretly wishing I'll get to host a party again soon.

(someone get pregnant or engaged quick)

And since I love a good theme I decided to coordinate my gift into it.

Yes, I got the book The Sailor Dog mostly for "theme" purposes.  I realize some mom's are thinking "babies will rip those pages to pieces...not practical at all."

But that was my mom's favorite book when she was little and I remember her reading it to me.

So I wanted to pass along the tradition to baby Jake.

Also, while we were driving down on Sunday I was reminded that just this time last year we were celebrating Sandi and baby Cade.

Now look at this big boy...

And I'll leave you with this photo...me creepin' like an idiot.

#dirtythirty

I was really bad at my live tweeting regarding mandy's #dirtythirty, but instead, I sucked.

mandy opted for a fun night out in charlotte, nc for her 30th birthday.

I wanted to make her 30th birthday special so upon arrival at The Blake Hotel, mandy hopped in the shower and that was my cue to set up the room with a few little decorations.

the snacks and bubbly helped with pre-gaming.

we had reservations uptown at 5Church...a super swanky restaurant with a fun atmosphere.  mandy's old college bestie/roommate who lives in the area was able to meet us for dinner.

we drank, we ate, we laughed, then we ventured into the uptown charlotte bar scene.

we bar hopped all night, but were in bed by a reasonable hour...b/c we're old.

the next morning...we soaked in our hangover for a while and once we packed up we went back uptown for brunch at Dandelion Market.

it was chilly so I decided to have the grilled cheese and tomato soup (with mimosa's).

it was legit the best grilled cheese i've ever had in my entire life.

mandy had the miga's...a cuisine she loved when she was recently in austin, tx for work.

we had both been to charlotte numerous times, but we've never just "explored" downtown.  so we did some strolling down the main drag aka tryon st just to look around at the buildings.

New Kids on the Block...they showed me what it meant to be in love.  Because I was in love Jordan Knight until Justin Timberlake came into the picture.
